Boca lawyer killed in crash

Eric Glatter, a Boca Raton attorney with a family law and bankruptcy practice, died Sunday in the Bahamas when he crashed a rented scooter, according to a story in The Palm Beach Post.
His fiancée, Kathy Warne, was on the back of the scooter and was injured in the crash.

RIP: Jesse J. McCrary Jr.

Jesse J. McCrary Jr., a former secretary of state who returned to private practice in Miami, died Monday of lung cancer. He was 70.
McCrary (above left with Gov. Reubin Askew) was a civil rights trailblazer and a member of Askew’s cabinet, according to a story in the Miami Herald.
“Jesse helped me get elected…We were close friends for a long time and I will miss him,” said Askew, who teaches public administration at Florida State University. “He was a great public servant that a lot of public servants can emulate.”

Ex-Justice Boyd dies

Former Florida Supreme Court Justice Joseph A. Boyd Jr., a graduate of the University of Miami Law School and a former Dade County Commissioner, died Friday at his Tallahassee home, according to CFN News13.
According to CFN News 13, “Boyd was elected to the Supreme Court in November 1968 and served for 18 years until his retirement in early 1987. He served as Chief Justice from mid-1984 through mid-1986.”
